Job Description
- An accounting officer oversees financial activities within an organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance with regulations, and timely reporting. They may handle tasks such as budgeting, financial analysis, reconciliations, and audits.
Responsibilities
- Recording financial transactions accurately.
- Preparing financial statements and reports.
- Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Conducting financial analysis to guide decision-making.
- Ensuring compliance with tax regulations and financial laws.
- Participating in audits and preparing necessary documentation.
- Assisting with budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Providing financial information to management for strategic planning.
- Utilizing accounting software effectively.
- Communicating financial information to stakeholders.
Other Responsibilities:
- Providing support during financial audits.
- Developing and implementing internal controls.
- Assisting with the preparation of financial forecasts and budgets.
- Collaborating with other departments to ensure financial data accuracy.
- Keeping abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulations.
Education
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is typically required. Professional certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) may be preferred or An HND in Accounting
Experience:
- Entry-level positions may require 1-3 years of relevant experience, while senior roles may require 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance.
Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting principles and practices.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Familiarity with financial software and MS Excel.
- Understanding of tax laws and regulations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Time management and organizational skills.
Remuneration
N150,000 to N350,000 / month.
