Job Title: Camera Technician (UAV Production Facility)
Location: Kuje, Abuja (FCT)
Job Description
- A Camera Technician in UAV production is responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of camera systems integrated into UAVs.
- These cameras are often used for surveillance, imaging, mapping, and other mission-critical functions. The Camera Technician ensures that the camera systems work optimally and provide high-quality data or imagery.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate camera systems (e.g., high-resolution cameras, thermal imaging cameras, LiDAR, or multispectral sensors) into UAV platforms as well as Mount cameras securely to UAV frames, ensuring proper alignment and functionality within the UAV’s payload capacity.
- Calibrate cameras and imaging systems to ensure accurate image capture, focus, exposure, and sensoralignment as well as Perform lens calibration and color correction, if necessary, to optimize image quality for different operational environments.
- Conduct comprehensive tests on camera systems once integrated into the UAV to verify functionality, data transmission, and image quality.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to camera performance (e.g., poor image quality, focus issues, data loss) and perform in-house repairs or coordinate with external vendors for camera system repairs, replacements, or upgrades.
- Install and update camera firmware to ensure compatibility with UAV flight controllers and other integrated systems.
- Conduct quality control checks on camera systems to ensure compliance with performance standards and industry regulations, including data privacy and security for sensitive imagery.
- Handle data post-flight by processing images and videos as needed, preparing it for analysis or delivery, and ensuring it meets the required resolution, format, and quality standards for its intended use (e.g., mapping, inspection, surveillance).
Skills & Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; associate’s Degree in Electronics, Photography, Imaging, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience with camera systems, preferably in a UAV, aerospace, or industrial setting. Experience with UAV camera integration or remote sensing is a plus.
Technical Skills:
- Experience with a variety of camera systems (e.g., digital, thermal, multispectral, optical zoom, LiDAR).
- Proficient in camera calibration techniques and image quality optimization. ○ Familiarity with camera control software and integration tools (e.g., camera control software, UAV ground control station.
