Job Title: Chinese Cook
Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of Chinese dishes, including stir-fries, soups, dim sum, fried rice, noodles, and roasted meats.
- Use authentic Chinese cooking techniques, including wok frying, steaming, and braising.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared according to restaurant standards and recipes.
- Select, measure, and prepare ingredients, including fresh vegetables, meats, seafood, and spices.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, following food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Monitor and control food stock and ingredient quality, ensuring freshness.
- Assist in menu development by suggesting new dishes or seasonal specialties.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and management to ensure smooth operations.
- Follow health and safety guidelines to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Train and supervise junior kitchen staff when necessary.
Requirements
- Candidates should possess an SSCE / GCE / NECO qualification with Proven experience as a Chinese Cook in a restaurant or hotel setting.
- Expertise in traditional Chinese cooking techniques and ingredient preparation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong knife skills and knowledge of food safety procedures.
- Creativity and attention to detail in food presentation.
- Physical stamina to work long hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Culinary certification or training in Chinese cuisine is a plus.
- Familiarity with various regional Chinese cuisines (e.g., Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, etc.) is an advantage.
