TAAS College, Ibadan is a Co-educational institution established in the Islamic tradition at KM 15, Abeokuta Road, Amunigun Village, Bode Igbo, Ibadan. The Nursery and primary school was upgraded to the secondary school by the governing council as a result of a remarkable acceptance by the Muslim Community and within a short period of existence. The college which is enriched with stately built school premises in a serene and conducive environment with modern facilities commenced operations in 2005.

Job Description

  • We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Civic Education / National Values / History Teacher to join our academic team.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching and developing students’ understanding of civic responsibilities, national values, and historical knowledge.
  • You will work to foster critical thinking, civic participation, and appreciation for Nigeria’s rich history and cultural heritage.
  • As part of our institution, the candidate will live on campus to ensure a close-knit relationship with students and staff.
  • This role is essential in shaping the future leaders of tomorrow by providing them with a solid foundation in civic awareness and historical perspective.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons in Civic Education, National Values, and History in accordance with the school’s curriculum and educational standards.
  • Plan, prepare, and execute interactive and innovative teaching methods to motivate students and enhance learning.
  • Assess and evaluate students’ academic progress through tests, assignments, and projects.
  • Encourage active student participation in discussions and debates around civic duties, rights, and historical events.
  • Ensure that students understand their roles in promoting national unity, ethical values, and respect for Nigerian history.
  • Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, and progress reports on students.
  • Supervise and mentor students in extracurricular civic and history-related activities and projects.
  • Maintain classroom discipline and create a positive learning environment for all students.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members and participate in staff meetings, trainings, and school events.
  • Live on campus and be actively involved in school community life, supporting students both academically and personally.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civic Education, History, Social Studies, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Experience: At least 1-2 years of teaching experience in Civic Education, National Values, or History (preferred).
  • Certification: Must have a valid teaching qualification or certification.
  • Residency: Must reside within Ibadan, Lagos, Ogun, or any Southwest state. The candidate must also be willing to live on the school premises.
  • Tech Savvy: Must be proficient in using digital tools for teaching, including virtual learning platforms, presentation software, and educational technology tools.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Classroom Management: Must have excellent classroom management skills, fostering a positive and engaging learning environment.
  • Passion for Education: Must demonstrate a passion for teaching and a commitment to students’ personal and academic growth.
  • Adaptability: Willing to adjust teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs and be flexible to school demands.
  • Team Player: Willing to collaborate with other teachers and staff in contributing to the school’s vision and educational goals.
