Responsibilities

  • Ensure implementation of World Without Waste, Water and Decarbonization strategy.
  • Direct impact and influence over the development of the most optimum sustainability strategy and implementation plan in line with the global sustainability strategy and The Coca-Cola Company’s (TCCS) sustainability commitments.
  • Influence over the AOU (Africa Operating Unit) operational sustainability OPEX/CAPEX decisions and lead an organization of AOU sustainability thought leaders covering the functional areas of packaging, climate/carbon, water, waste management, circular economy, and operational sustainability strategies.
  • Accountable for achieving goals focused on short-term (1 year), mid-term (2-3 years) of the AOU Sustainability Strategy and defining the governance and tracking progress.
  • WWW (World without Waste), Water and Decarbonization Strategy Implementation:
  • Accelerated implementation of the AOU WWW, Water and Decarbonization Sustainability Strategy within the global sustainability commitments.
  • Influence the global and regional sustainability agendas and investments in collaboration with PACS (Public Affairs, Communication and Sustainability) and other technical functions.
  • Ensure all licenses to operate, KORE sustainability requirements and AOU governance are in place in line with the global governance framework requirements
  • Ensure that effective reporting for environmental metrics is conducted, and that appropriate controls are in place
  • Shape water replenish investment plans, including complex analyses of cost, infrastructure developments, and strategic partnerships.
  • Connect strategically with external and internal networks and stakeholders to drive performance and benchmarking efforts.
  • Develop and continuously improve performance models and systems to track risks and global mitigation plans.
  • Ensure the development of QSE talent and place key people in significant operational sustainability positions.
  • Drive organizational alignment on operational sustainability across OUs, bottling partners, and corporate QSE (quality, safety and environment)
  • Contribute actively to the Global Environmental Council and champion KO System sustainability and overall QSE Culture and Strategies.
  • Drive external engagement and benchmarking, ensuring leadership presence in industry associations
  • Execute the operating unit’s Technical Innovation & Supply Chain Sustainability strategy on water replenish and CO2 footprint reduction.
  • Ensure governance and controls to monitor internal and external trends.
    Determine OU water risk management framework and priorities, and work with business to drive water risk assessments.
  • Implement OU Science Based Targets (SBT) and action plans.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering or Environmental science.
  • Experience with Science Based Targets (SBT) initiative and reporting frameworks.
  • Experience in environmental audit and assurance
  • Experience in creating, implementing, and monitoring sustainability reporting procedures, standards, and guidelines.
  • Proven successful track record in leading large-scale transformation programs, change management, and diverse teams with technical/QSE operations experience.
  • End-to-End Operational sustainability leadership in water, carbon/climate and packaging technologies, circular economy, Science Based Targets.
  • Franchise and functional leadership, broad strategy development, and influencing within an OU and globally.
  • Exceptional skills in data analytics and data interpretation.
    Excellent problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to analyze complex data and develop effective strategies.
  • Strong project management skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
  • Engineering and operational experience, especially in the areas of water, wastewater compliance and energy management.
  • Risk management, mitigation, and communication.
  • System economics, value chain, and supply chain finance.
  • Exceptional ability to translate scientific and technological concepts to relevant business insights and growth opportunities.
