Job Title: Farm Manager

Location: Karau Karau – Zaria, Kaduna
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Farm Manager to oversee and manage a 100-hectare farm located in Karau Karau, Zaria.
  • The farm currently focuses on crop production and poultry, with plans to expand into other agricultural fields soon.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in farm management, a keen understanding of agricultural practices, and a vision for sustainable farm growth.
  • The candidate must be fluent in English and Hausa to communicate with the local workforce and community effectively.

Job Responsibilities
Farm Operations Management:

  • Oversee daily farm activities including crop production and poultry management.
  • Develop and implement effective planting, harvesting, and livestock care schedules.
  • Make sure that farm equipment and machinery are properly used and maintained.
  • Monitor and manage farm inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, feed, and chemicals.

Financial Management:

  • Prepare and manage farm budgets, including cost estimation, financial planning, and expenditure tracking.
  • Optimize farm profitability through cost-effective practices and resource allocation.
  • Handle farm revenue streams, including product sales and market expansion.

Staff Supervision and Training:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise farm workers and support staff.
  • Develop work schedules, assign tasks, and ensure productivity and safety standards are met.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Poultry Management:

  • Oversee all aspects of poultry farming including breeding, feeding, health monitoring, and egg production.
  • Implement biosecurity measures to prevent diseases and ensure the well-being of livestock.

Crop Production:

  • Plan and manage crop cycles, ensuring timely planting, irrigation, fertilization, and harvesting.
  • Monitor crop health and implement pest and disease control measures.
  • Introduce innovative farming techniques and technologies to improve yield and sustainability.

Expansion and Development:

  • Identify and assess opportunities for farm expansion into new agricultural fields.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and market research to support expansion initiatives.
  • Collaborate with management to develop strategic plans for farm growth and diversification.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure all farm operations comply with local, state, and federal agricultural regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of farm activities, including production data, financial records, and compliance documentation.

Community Engagement:

  • Represent the farm in the local community and build relationships with local stakeholders.
  • Promote the farm’s products and services through community outreach and marketing initiatives.

Job Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Animal Science, or related field (Advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in farm management, preferably in crop production and poultry farming.
  • Strong knowledge of agricultural best practices, farm management software, and modern farming technologies.
  • Fluency in both English and Hausa is required.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a rural setting and adapt to the challenges of managing a large-scale farm.
  • Experience with financial management, budgeting, and business planning.
  • Commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly farming practices.

Salary
N200,000 – N400,000 monthly.
