The organization aimed to give her support across all sectors  towards the affected populations within the BAY states to provide services towards their holistic development all round through capacity building, advocacy, Sensitization, Rapid assessment with inclusion of emergency response interventions in the areas towards early recovery to foster human development through SGBV programming, Sexual Reproductive health, Nutrition, WASH, General Food Distribution, CCCM, NFI, Shelter, HIV/AIDS Prevention & management, General health & hygiene, Education, women empowerment, livelihood, governance, free legal aid & human rights, registration and tracking of  new arrivals who are displaced due to violence, conflict or man-made disasters such as Mainstreaming Peace Building in all round programming with many among others.

RAAI has centrally focused on SGBV/GBV response and mitigation, Sexual Reproductive health (SRH),

Education, General protection, WASH, food security and Livelihood, early recover. Rapid protection assessments, CCCM &NFI and community resilience Strengthening of AAP in reintegration farming for livelihood strengthening and mainstreaming peace build in other programing. RAAI is committed towards responding to IDPs, Returnees and IDP returnees. With it vision and mission, RAAI aims towards responding to needs and the typological concerns of individuals affected across the BAY state and not limited to cut across the entire country where response need arises. Furthermore, aiming towards the future RAAI shall integrate more into refugee response to protection, Asylum seekers and stateless persons in Post conflict and conflict eras such as strengthening the resilience of AAP in the Early Recovery Sectorial Approach to respond towards the Need of AAP in the Society. RAAI in its approach of implementation commits towards accessing Hard to reach Communities especially in Borno and to contribute towards the livelihood of AAP.

To contribute consummately towards sustainable human and environmental development through service delivery all round 360 through working with poor, PLWD and marginalized population to eradicate poverty by overcoming the injustices and inequality that cause it and promote efficient service delivery as well as result oriented socio-economic empowerment, institutional, legislative support to enable affected communities grow and develop their full potential in their society (AAP) across Nigeria, Africa and world at large.

We are currently looking for the right candidate to fill the position below:   

Summary of Role

  • The finance intern will provide support to the finance department in various tasks and responsibilities. She/ He will assist in the day-to-day financial operations of the organization. she/ He will support in the managements and requesting of funds monthly liquidation using the approved reporting format as agreed with the management and the policy document guidelines of RAAI.
  • She/ He will provide support in the financial operations of the organization working with the program team to ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and document management. She/ He is expected to have strong organizational/ managements skills, and ability to work with numbers will be key to deliver on this role.

Overall, the role of a finance intern is crucial in supporting the maintaining financial stability and accuracy within an organization. Their support and assistance to the finance department enable efficient financial operations and contribute to informed decision-making

  • The Finance Officer is responsible for the Finance and Administration systems of RAAI in the Maiduguri

Office, in other to support smooth organizational functioning and effective program implementation.

  • Overall advice and support will be given to the Finance Manager.
  • The Finance Officer reports to the Finance Manager. The position is based in Borno and yobe

respectively State.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Processing financial transactions: This involves recording, organizing, and inputting financial data into the organization’s systems. She/ He will be responsible for managing invoices, payments, and expenses, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
  • Monitoring and maintaining financial records: She/ He will be support in organizing and maintaining financial records, ensuring that they are up-to-date, easily accessible, and in compliance with donor regulations.
  • Data Entry: support in Input financial data into the accounting system (approved RAAI reporting template) and perform regular data reconciliation to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Bank reconciliations: She/He will support in reconciling bank statements with the organization’s financial records. This involves comparing and matching transactions to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies
  • Assisting in budgeting and forecasting: He/she will support the Program team in preparing budgets and financial forecasts by collecting and analyzing financial data and preparing reports
  • Assisting in financial reporting: He/she will help prepare financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. He/she will ensure that these reports are accurate and can provide valuable insights to management and stakeholders.
  • Assisting in audits and compliance: He/ She will assist in preparing documentation and providing support during internal and external audits. He/she will help ensure compliance with financial/donor regulations and origination’s policies
  • Budget Monitoring: She/ He will Support the monitoring and tracking of origination’s budgets, highlighting any variances to the finance team.
  • Compliance: She/ He will support in ensuring compliance with all financial/donor regulations and standards, both internally and externally, and recommend improvements to enhance financial controls.
  • Vendor Management: She/ He will support in Maintaining vendor information, including contracts, payments, and invoices, and assist with vendor queries and requests.

Communication: She/ He will support in collaborate with internal teams to obtain necessary financial information and provide timely responses to inquiries related to financial transactions.

  • Support: She/ He will support in providing general administrative support to the finance team, including filing, document management, and other ad-hoc tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain files; including filling of general ledger, payment vouchers, account payable documentation, and other miscellaneous payments.
  • Assist in arranging travel logistics for all departments, consultants, and training participants; including flight tickets, hotel reservations, airport pickup, meetings, and workshops.
  • Support finance in printing, photocopy, and scanning of documents; including storage and archiving in accordance with the RAAI policy.
  • Maintain cordial relationships with the staff members and treat visitors, guests, and program beneficiaries with courtesy.
  • Ensure regular internal controls (cash counts, spot checks, receipt checks) regarding financial processes are done to reduce the opportunities for fraud or abuse of funds, goods, and materials;
  • Conduct him/her both professionally and personally in such a manner that it will bring credit to RAAI and not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
  • Any other duty that is reasonably consistent with the key tasks of the function.
  • Ensure correct coding of Project Instance, budget line, and ledger code in line with approved budget and

RAAI Accounting Manual and Procedure.

  • Assist the Finance Manager with budget development, monthly financial closure procedures, and external audits or internal RAAI audits
  • Advice and support program offices in all aspects of financial management;
  • Provide financial and other information from ERP (Unit 4) and other finance records to other RAAI staff, whenever this is required;
  • Ensure all financial documents are structurally archived (Hard and Electronic copy) in line with the

RAAI Quality Management System.

  • Produce monthly financial reports for projects, partners, country office, and authorities and facilitate the monitoring of the program expenditures against the budgets;
  • Ensure that bank and cash books are always up to date and reconciled every week/month.
  • Ensure that an efficient and effective financial system is implemented, in line with the RAAI policies and guidelines;
  • Participate in the project kick-off meeting and provide budget clarity as may be required.

External Contacts:

  • Community members, Vendors & Suppliers, and community-based organizations;

Relevant government authorities on a district and local level;

  • National and international NGOs working in RAAI’s target areas;
  • Any other stakeholders in project implementation at the community level;

Internal Contacts:

  • RAAI office and program staff.

Additional Responsibilities:

Qualifications / Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, and ICAN or a 
  • Prior experience in a similar role as finance is advantageous 
  • Proficient in using financial Systems Applications and Products Software (SAPS)
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in financial transactions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, word, ERP unit 3-4 and power points
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and standards is desirable.
  • The use of QuickBooks and Sun system applications will be and added advantage.
