RAPID ACTION AID INITIATIVE (RAAI) is woman led organization and independent registered nongovernmental, nonprofit, Non-religious and equal opportunity, civil society organization based in Maiduguri. RAAI is a registered organization with the Corporate Affairs commission here in Nigeria with a CAC/IT/NO

138018. The organization aimed to give her support across all sectors  towards the affected populations within the BAY states to provide services towards their holistic development all round through capacity building, advocacy, Sensitization, Rapid assessment with inclusion of emergency response interventions in the areas towards early recovery to foster human development through SGBV programming, Sexual Reproductive health, Nutrition, WASH, General Food Distribution, CCCM, NFI, Shelter, HIV/AIDS Prevention & management, General health & hygiene, Education, women empowerment, livelihood, governance, free legal aid & human rights, registration and tracking of  new arrivals who are displaced due to violence, conflict or man-made disasters such as Mainstreaming Peace Building in all round programming with many among others.

RAAI has centrally focused on SGBV/GBV response and mitigation, Sexual Reproductive health (SRH),

Education, General protection, WASH, food security and Livelihood, early recover. Rapid protection assessments, CCCM &NFI and community resilience Strengthening of AAP in reintegration farming for livelihood strengthening and mainstreaming peace build in other programing. RAAI is committed towards responding to IDPs, Returnees and IDP returnees. With it vision and mission, RAAI aims towards responding to needs and the typological concerns of individuals affected across the BAY state and not limited to cut across the entire country where response need arises. Furthermore, aiming towards the future RAAI shall integrate more into refugee response to protection, Asylum seekers and stateless persons in Post conflict and conflict eras such as strengthening the resilience of AAP in the Early Recovery Sectorial Approach to respond towards the Need of AAP in the Society. RAAI in its approach of implementation commits towards accessing Hard to reach Communities especially in Borno and to contribute towards the livelihood of AAP.

To contribute consummately towards sustainable human and environmental development through service delivery all round 360 through working with poor, PLWD and marginalized population to eradicate poverty by overcoming the injustices and inequality that cause it and promote efficient service delivery as well as result oriented socio-economic empowerment, institutional, legislative support to enable affected communities grow and develop their full potential in their society (AAP) across Nigeria, Africa and world at large.

We are currently looking for the right candidate to fill the position below:   

Background

Under the overall guidance of the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, the M&E Interns will be supporting the monitoring and evaluation function in the RAAI country Office, ensuring that RAAI RAAI country Programme (CP) maintains its strategic vision and that its activities result in the achievement of its intended outputs in a costeffective and timely manner.

The M&E Interns will specifically be assisting in designing and implementing of M&E activities of RAAI RAAI country Programme; assisting the Programme/Project Manager in preparing Quarterly/Annual reports on project progress to monitor the project activities on a regular basis, uploading project data/information on the corporate databases and assist in collection & analysis of different data in relation to the project activities.

The Monitoring and Evaluation Interns will work in close collaboration with the project team and RAAI country Office Programme and operations clusters, Government officials, private sector and any other duty that is assigned to the M&E Intern.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Design and Implement the M&E System:

  • Participate in developing and implementing the RAAI country Programme result based M&E plan to generate regular information related to the progress of the program implementation. 
  • Participate in designing data collection tools, templates, and assist in regular data collection or generation process.
  • Provide support to the M & E team lead in his/her technical assistance to project staff on implementing the M&E plan.
  • Participate in data collection and analysis to determine progress achieved.
  • Participate in the development of the AAP RAAI country program policy
  • Facilitate the evaluation process especially focusing in the APP to ensure all aspect of programs are in accordance to AAP program guideline
  • Update record retention on the MC drive.
  • Work closely with the MC Strategic Learning Manager to file and archive both soft and hard copies of the CIPP program ensuring that they are up to date.
  • Support the MEL team with database entry of CIPP program participants.
  • Support the MEL team in data collection, collation, and database entry.
  • Support the MEL team with Context monitoring on the Geopoll dashboard.
  • Support the M&E, ICT, and Database Assistant to ensure the database is live and accessible to field offices

1.1 Implement the M&E Systems and Tools.

  • Work as part of a team to facilitate and support M&E operations including annual, and end-line surveys, regular monitoring, data collection, and analysis, feedback, and reporting according to the MEL work plan.
  • Support in regular field visits to ensure all elements of the M&E system and database are being utilized effectively by all stakeholders, assessing and identifying breakdowns and areas that require clarifications and improvements.
  • Support the M&E, ICT, and Database Assistant to ensure field teams always have the most recent version of all

M&E tools and documents.

2.  Project Information Management

  • Assist in tracking the project’s output and outcome level results on the periodic basis in close coordination with the project’s implementing team.
  • Support data collection, verification and compilation from the field as stipulated in the M&E plan of ongoing projects
  • Review and compile monitoring reports, project progress reports, evaluation reports, photographs, case studies video documentaries, PowerPoint presentations, etc. ï‚· Update and maintain the projects database.

3.  M&E Development Support

  • Support the M&E in providing technical support to staff members for all M&E related activities including training of staff members on M&E concepts, skills, and tools.
  • Assist the M&E to build the capacities of the local staffs for enhancing skills and knowledge for proper and quality data collection and reporting. 
  • Contribute to design of TORs for casual staffs and local staffs, training materials, communication materials, and knowledge products related to the program/project and M&E System.

4.  Quality Assurance

  • Assist in reviewing field-level assessment reports, baseline studies, and evaluation reports.
  • Support the M&E to ensure that reports from partners/consultants are complete and meet the RAAI standards and quality requirements.
  • Assist in the quality assessments of project design, implementation, and closure based on RAAI standards.

5.  Reporting and Documentation

  • Consolidate RAAI country Programme quarterly progress reports and submit them to the supervisor.
  • Work with the project team to prepare periodic reports of the project by providing M&E related information.
  • Work with the program Management team and Communication team in collecting case stories, best practice documentation, lesson learn; and update and manage that information in project’s reports and other knowledge products.
  • Support Programme and Project Manager to ensure that lessons learned from the RAAI country Office evaluations are documented properly in the corporate databases.
  • Contribute to developing and managing knowledge products (knowledge management) of the project.

6. General responsibility:

  • Participate in virtual internal and external monitoring through assisting in organizing and facilitating various events such as meetings, workshops, conferences, and seminars.
  • Work closely with the project team and relevant stakeholders for monitoring and evaluation of project interventions. 
  • Carry out other duties and responsibilities related to M&E as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Candidate should have a minimum of a B.Sc./HND in any Social Science field,
  • designing, implementing M&E related tasks. computer sciences, data managements and data analysis. 
  • Knowledge on writing reports, and designing tools for data collection, analysis and production of reports/ report writing 
  • Good interpersonal, communications, and facilitation skills and knowledge of managing databases.
  • Analytical knowledge including knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in M&E (fieldwork, data collection, report writing, documentation etc.)
  • Prior experience working on development programs.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Proven skills in the use of Microsoft Office package.
  • Experience in data collection and analysis using participatory methodology.
  • High regard for organizational culture.
  • Demonstrated skills in planning, organizing, and reporting.
  • Willingness to travel to all RAAI field offices regularly.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members.

Language:

  • Working knowledge of the English language along with writing and communication skills.

Intern requirements:

  • RAAI interns receive payment of a monthly stipend based on the rate established by the organisation.
  • RAAI  interns accrue leave at a rate of 1.5 days per month;
  • RAAI  accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship;
  • Interns are not eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in RAAI during the period of the internship;
  • Interns must provide proof of enrolment in a health insurance plan; and medical or health reports, reference letter from guarantors.
  • Interns are not staff members and may not represent RAAI in any official capacity;
  • Interns are expected to work full time but flexibility is allowed for education programs and National youth service.
