Role Overview
- We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Product Manager to drive the success of our products from conception to delivery.
- In this role, you will be responsible for defining the vision for our product portfolio, guiding the development process from concept through launch, and ensuring product-market fit.
- Experience in business, finance, or energy is a strong bonus as we work with diverse industries in these domains.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute product strategies, roadmaps, and vision in line with business goals and customer needs.
- Lead end-to-end product lifecycle management, from ideation to launch and post-launch optimization.
- Collaborate with engineering, design, sales, and marketing teams to ensure seamless product delivery.
- Collaborate with marketing to develop effective go-to-market strategies and product positioning.
- Lead cross-functional teams throughout the product development lifecycle, ensuring collaboration and alignment across departments.
- Create detailed product specifications and user stories that articulate requirements for development teams.
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities and refine product positioning.
- Engage with stakeholders and customers to gather feedback, ensuring the product meets their needs.
- Track product performance and user satisfaction post-launch, iterating and improving products based on data-driven insights.
- Drive the adoption of best practices in product management and agile methodologies within the team.
- Mentor and develop junior product managers and team members to build a high-performing product culture.
Requirements
- Education: BSc / BA in Business, Computer Science, or a related field; an MBA is a plus.
- Experience: 4+ years of experience in product management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role, ideally in the technology, consulting, or innovation sectors.
- Skills:
- Exceptional understanding of agile methodologies and user-centered design principles.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret data to inform product strategy.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of successfully leading cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge: Proven experience in managing the entire product lifecycle and familiarity with competitive analysis and product positioning.
- Mindset: A strategic thinker with a passion for innovation, an entrepreneurial spirit, and an eagerness to establish and maintain a customer-centric approach to product development.
- Leadership & Multitasking: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in a technology-driven industry, especially within the African market.
- Experience or knowledge in business, finance, or energy sectors.
- Familiarity with data analytics tools to assess product performance.
- Previous experience in a startup or fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of UX/UI design principles to enhance user experience.
- Relevant product management certifications (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner) are a plus.
- Established network within the tech and startup community in Africa.
