We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Research Supervisor
Location: Kano
Employment Type: Contract: 1-year renewable

Duties:

  • Work with relevant public and private sector institutions that contribute to deploying and scaling up legume seed systems in Nigeria.
  • Provide technical support to seed companies, NGOs, and NARS in designing and implementing seed road maps for legume seed system scaling to meet seed demand for target beneficiaries.
  • Work with extension agents of relevant NARS for enhancing livelihoods, including demonstration of new varieties to generate demand and capacity building of local institutions.
  • Support the development of approaches for promoting seed entrepreneurship amongst women and youth.
  • Document work activities through high-quality reports that demonstrate project impacts.
  • Assist in capacity building of farmers and seed producers and strengthening stakeholder partnerships.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • B.Sc / HND in Agriculture, Agronomy or related field with a minimum of three (3) years experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment.

Competencies:
The ideal candidate must:

  • Have skilled knowledge of seed production and delivery to farmers.
  • Have experience working with research organizations, NGOs, private sector seed companies, farmers, grain traders, aggregators and other stakeholders in the legume value chain.
  • Be committed and dependable and have the ability to work under pressure.
  • Have excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and technology.
