Youth Development and Empowerment Initiative (YEDI) is a local, Nigerian not-for-profit organization that delivers evidence-based programs that build young people’s health assets, facilitate access to health services, and promote adherence to healthy behaviors. Founded in 2011, YEDI has reached over 451,693 young people in schools and community settings across Lagos, Kano, Abuja, Akwa-Ibom, Ogun, and Rivers states. YEDI’s expertise includes adolescent sexual and reproductive health & rights (SRHR), orphans, and vulnerable children and youth, (OCVY) programming, HIV and gender-based violence (GBV) prevention, neglected tropical disease (NTD) awareness, positive youth development, and community mobilization.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: State Programme Coordinator

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The State Program Coordinator will oversee the implementation and coordination of YEDI’s programs and activities within the state (Abuja).
  • The coordinator will ensure that program goals and objectives are met within the stipulated timelines and budget. This role requires a dynamic individual with excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills, who can work effectively with stakeholders at various levels.

Responsibilities
Program Management and Implementation:

  • Develop and manage detailed project work plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Coordinate and monitor the day-to-day implementation of program activities in alignment with the project objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with program policies and donor requirements.
  • Prepare and submit timely and accurate program reports to the Regional Program Manager.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including government agencies, NGOs, community leaders, and beneficiaries.
  • Represent the organization at meetings, workshops, and conferences at the state level.
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings and consultations to ensure program alignment with community needs and priorities.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Work with the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team to develop and implement M&E plans.
  • Track program performance indicators and outcomes, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor program activities and provide support to field teams.
  • Compile and analyze M&E data to inform program improvements and decision-making.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Supervise and mentor program staff, providing guidance and support to enhance their performance.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Identify training and development needs of program staff and facilitate relevant training sessions.

Resource Mobilization:

  • Assist in identifying funding opportunities and preparing grant proposals.
  • Manage program budgets and ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Develop and implement strategies to sustain program activities beyond donor funding.

Communications and Reporting:

  • Develop communication materials and case studies to highlight program successes and lessons learned.
  • Ensure effective documentation and dissemination of program outcomes and best practices.
  • Maintain up-to-date records and files for all program activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, Development Studies, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in program coordination/management in an NGO or development agency.
  • Proven experience in implementing health, education, or livelihood programs.

Skills:

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation techniques and tools.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel within the state as required.

Working Conditions:

  • The position is based in Abuja, with frequent travel to project sites within the state.
  • The role may require working outside regular office hours to meet project deadlines.

Salary
N250,000 – N300,000 Monthly.
